What’d You Do This Weekend? #54

Welcome to the party with my co-host Ashley from Pioneer Momma.  You can learn more about Ashley and her blog at New Friend Friday.  To my old friends, thanks for stopping by to visit.  To my new friends welcome!  I hope you stay awhile.

What I really did this weekend was – not much.  I am beginning to plan a remodel of my master bath.  It’s been in the “thinking about it” stage for a long time.  Then I moved forward to an estimate and suggestions from James.  He’s the handiest person I know and has great subs that work with him.  I’ve been shopping at the home improvement stores to get ideas and finally went back to get serious and get prices.  So step 1 is started.

After the estimate and before the pricing, I had lunch with my middle daughter and her two daughters.  It was delightful.  Those little girls are such a delight.  Ages 9 and 6.  They are so grown up.  They convinced their mom to purchase a box of Girl Scout cookies while we were waiting for our lunch.  Then we talked about Girl Scouts and how much fun their mom had as a Brownie and Girl Scout.  We had some good laughs.  I’m not sure I’ve convinced them they should give the Girl Scouts a try.  I’ll keep working on it.  But I have rambled on again, haven’t I?

While I was waiting for James to arrive I mixed up the quickest crusty bread from a mix.  Have you seen these Fleischmann’s Simply Homemade No Knead Bread Mixes?Fleischmanns Simply Homemade

They are truly simple.  Everything you need to make this bread comes in a box. (flour, yeast, and sugar)  Just add warm water and grease a baking sheet.

I have to say I did knead it a bit just to finish bringing it together and form a loaf.  The box says to add a little flour to keep it from being sticky and I did that too – about 2 tablespoons.

I heat my oven to 200° and turn it off while I am mixing it up.  That’s where I put bread to rise (covered with a tea towel) during the cool/cold winter time.  In the summer, there is no need for that.

It turned out great.  I’m going to serve it along with a chopped pasta salad today for lunch.  My grandsons are coming over for a visit.  No, they won’t be eating the salad or bread, but their mom and I can enjoy that.  I can’t wait to see them.  The youngest (by 45 minutes) rolled over twice yesterday.  I hope he will show off for me today too.   I made this Cherry Cheese Coffee Cake for visiting with friends too.  It is yummy!

    • Beautiful as usual, Winne. I can’t believe that Snickers Cake doesn’t require any baking on your part. Awesome.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a lovely week.

  1. Good Morning, Linda! I hope you’ll share pictures of the bath remodel as it progresses! If you get a picture of that grandbaby rolling over, we definitely want to see that! ♥ Thank you for the party!

    • Hi Joy! He didn’t perform for me yessterday. But not to worry you’ll see plenty of both of them. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week. (I haven’t heard back yet from my contractor with an estimate yet.) Am I MAD to do this and tear up my house? We’ll see.

    • Thanks for stopping by, Anna. I made the stuffed peppers and froze one for future dinner. Great idea (especially for the leftover Chinese takeout rice!)
      Have a great week,

  2. Hi Linda thank you for dropping by my site and leaving such a nice comment on my Blackberry & Lemon Cheesecake Bars. I would think that you could make these bars with frozen blackberries, considering how expensive fresh blackberries are I will probably go that route in the future! I hope you have a great rest of your week and thanks for the party!!!
